The rules here are quite simple and straight forward.
This community is first and foremost a liberal/progressive/human-rights orientated one.
It is founded on the basic premise that human rights and dignity are the cornerstones of civilized society.
With that in mind, The Sanctuary is unequivocally a "pro-migrant" place which respects the intrinsic value of all members of society regardless of their circumstances or legal status.
No matter what opinion one holds about the specific details of US immigration policies, under no circumstances will anti-immigrant rhetoric or propaganda be tolerated.
If you believe "America is full" or that America is under some sort of assault or invasion by immigrants - you're in the wrong place.
If you use racial or ethnic stereotypes to define your worldview - you're in the wrong place.
If you believe that immigration harms rather than benefits society - you're in the wrong place.
There are plenty of places on the web where your views would be welcome - but this is not one of them.
Our mission is to work towards reform of our current immigration system to better reflect liberal ideals: To be practical, fair, rational and humane.
If you believe that immigration is a vital part of maintaining a healthy and vibrant America. That it has set this nation apart from all others since its inception, and to close our borders to new immigrants is to cut off the lifeblood that has always made this nation grow and prosper: You're in the right place.
We need not all agree on how best to reform our system to reflect these ideals, but these ideals are what define us as a community.
